Kipe to speak to Lioness group



Andrew Kipe, executive director of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, will present the program at the Thursday, Oct. 2, meeting of the Hagerstown Lioness Club.

A Hagerstown native who was formerly general manager of the Portland Symphony, Kipe will share his perspesctive about the past, present and future of the MSO, which performs a variety of concerts in Washington County each year.

The meeting will be held at the Academy Theater (off the city parking lot in downtown Hagerstown.) Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. and the program starts at 7:30 p.m.

Scout Troop 136 marks anniversary



Troop 136 Boy Scouts of Halfway will be celebrating 35 years of serving the youth in the Washington County area.

The event will be on Oct. 7 at the Church of the Holy Trinity on Oak Ridge Drive. The troop would like as many previous Scout leaders, Scouts and Eagle Scouts to attend.
