Syd's always just a phone call away

September 18, 2008|By BIG SYDNEY

Now, this means war.

I'm watching TV the other day, looking for any little thing that has to do with football, and I come across this Inside Sports show on Antietam Cable.

Now, let me tell you that show fit the criteria -- any little thing that has to do with football.

What's Mark Keller know about football? For heaven's sakes, he's a Dolphins fan.

And that Tim Koelble ... Ohio State, Notre Dame and the Cleveland Browns. None of them has met a championship game it hasn't watched. And that's while playing in them.

The only thing that Bob Parasiliti knows about this game is that he's built like me. He gets a little slack for that.

And that anchor. Sheesh. He should get on a hardware show with Jack Black. It would be Black and Decker.

There is no room on that show for me?

Well, I'll show them Inside Sports. I decided to dig deep ... deep ... to give you, the reader, the stunning info you want.

I went over to Dargan's new cell phone and Barnum & Bailey souvenir shop -- Three Ring Circus -- to do a little research.

I give you my list of ringtones for area football personalities:

The Beatles' "Come Together" -- Clear Spring coach Craig Bathgate.

Snoop Dogg's "Pass It, Pass It" -- St. James quarterback Mike Russ.

Blink 182's "Adam's Song" -- Greencastle-Antrim coach Chuck Tinninis.

"Those Were The Days" -- Chambersburg coach Dave Caruthers.

Def Leopard's "Bringing On The Heartache" -- Smithsburg coach Buddy Orndorff.

Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" -- South Hagerstown quarterback Nick Gross.

Offspring's "Pretty Fly for a White Guy" -- Boonsboro back Brandon McLean.

Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wing-T" -- Boonsboro coach Clayton Anders.

Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer" -- Hancock coach Dave Mahaffey.

As for myself, I decided to get one of those special ringtones to distinguish myself, too.

I got some song by "Fat Boy Slim" as sung by John Madden. It seemed to fit.

On with the predictions. Last week: 17-4. Season: 32-14 (.695).
