Bark in the Park

The Bark in the Park event will be held at Doub's Woods Park across from South End Shopping Center on Saturday Oct. 11. Registration will be held at 9 a.m. with a walk to follow at 10. The registration fee for per human/canine team is $5. This event will feature a walk around the park, demonstrations in obedience, agility, along with demonstrations from Rally-O, Mason Dixon Kennel Club, the Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog International.

Grooming and a pet first- aid demonstrations will also be held along with contests, games and much more. Herald-Mail columnist Tim Rowland will also be featured for a book-signing of his newest publication, "All Pets are Off." A My Dog's Got Talent contest will also be held.

Hispanic festival

The second annual Hispanic Festival will be Sunday at Hagerstown Fairgrounds Park from noon to 6 p.m. in observance of Hispanic Heritage Month.


There will be dancing to Latin American music and authentic foods from Latin American countries to taste. Youth and adult soccer tournaments will also be going on. Very creepy

Visit the Jonathan Hager House and Museum in City Park for a "spooktacular" event. A grim reaping event is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 25, starting at 7 p.m. Participants will learn about burial customs and superstitions during the Hager era. The event is free. Celebrate women

A celebration of women will be at Valley Mall on Saturday, Sept. 27, for the women expo titled "The Power of Women."

Live entertainment will be going on from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Center Court. Fashions for the upcoming season, specializing in looks and styles for every woman, will be on display.

New cars

The annual new car showcase will be held at Valley Mall beginning Sunday, Sept. 28. Many local area auto dealers will have 2009 cars on display through Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Hot and spicy

The fifth annual Chili Cook off and Music Festival is scheduled Saturday at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown. Events will be held from noon to 5 p.m. There will be more than 30 kinds of chili and live entertainment. For more information, go to on the Web.
