Sunrise Rotary plans dinner, auction

Hagerstown Sunrise Rotary is holding its seventh annual The Sun Rises Over Rotary Dinner & Auction on Sunday, Oct. 19.

The event will have a western theme.

The auction and dinner to benefit the Child Advocacy Center, Children in Need and the Sunrise Rotary Foundation will be held at Elks Lodge 378 on Robinwood Drive from 4 to 9 p.m.

Children in Need Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides low-income school-age children in Washington County with clothing, school supplies and toiletries.

Friends of Safe Place, Washington County's Child Advocacy Center, is a community child-focused facility-based program that serves children up to age 18 who have been victims of sexual and/or physical abuse in Washington County.

Sunrise Rotary Foundation benefits various charities in Washington County and each year the grant committee selects local nonprofits to receive distributions from the foundation.

Tickets cost $35 per person and include a buffet dinner with silent and live auctions. First prize is a Persian Tabriz rug valued at $9,400, second prize is a Persian Meshad rug with a retail value of more than $6,500 and third prize is a $500 Valley Mall shopping spree.

Raffle tickets will also be sold for $5 each or 5 for $20.
