Plumb Grove

Plumb Grove Mansion and Museum will be open Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Docents will be Barbara Clopper and Betty Shank. The 19th-century home is furnished with Maryland-made furniture and many local items. The lawn area is blooming with heritage roses and vegetable plants from Thomas Jefferson's home. Plumb Grove is at Broadfording Road and North Martin Street in Clear Spring.

Yearbooks

Several Clear Spring High School 2008 yearbooks have not been picked up.

Books can be picked up by checking in at the front office during regular school hours. Arrangements can be made to give books to siblings or friends by calling the school at 301-766-8082 or e-mailing Neil Becker at beckenei@wc boe.k12.md.us. Additionally, a few unsold books are available for $50. Students may bring cash or check (payable to Clear Spring High School) to purchase a book.

Community show

There will be a community show sponsored by WACOHU Grange 415 at Huyetts Crossroads on U.S. 40 West of Hagerstown next to the Sheetz store.

The show will be open on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. to enter exhibits.

The show will continue on Friday and Saturday:

Friday - 8 to 11:30 a.m., enter exhibits; 12:30 p.m., judging of exhibits; 4:30 to 7 p.m., spaghetti dinner; 4 to 9 p.m., review of exhibits; 6 to 9 p.m., bingo.

Saturday - 7 to 10 a.m., breakfast; 11 a.m. chicken barbecue; 11 to 3, soup/sandwiches/desserts; 4 p.m., auction of exhibits, flea market/craft vendors.

Spaghetti supper

There will be an all-you-can-eat spaghetti supper Friday, Sept. 26, at the Wilson Ruritan Club. The supper will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets cost $6 for adults, $4 for ages 6 to 12, and free for those younger than 6.

'Stardust'

The movie "Stardust" will be shown Friday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. at the Clear Spring Library. Bring pillows, blankets, bean-bag chairs, etc. and kick back while watching the movie.

Chips, popcorn and a beverage will be provided. The movie is rated PG-13. Call 301-842-2370 to sign up if you plan to attend.

Yard sale

Don't forget the Blairs Valley First Church of God's two-day yard sale, Friday and Saturday, starting at 8 a.m.

On Saturday, beginning at 4 p.m., there will be a chicken barbecue dinner. The dinner consists of either a half-chicken for $8, or quarter-chicken for $6, plus baked potato, green beans, applesauce, a dessert, roll and drink. The meals will be served in the air-conditioned fellowship hall.
