Steven E. McDermott, 39



SEPT. 27, 1968-SEPT. 13, 2008

HANCOCK - Steven E. McDermott, 39, of West Main Street, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at his home.

Born Sept. 27, 1968, in Washington County, he was the son of Carolyn E. Jacobs Barkdoll of Hancock and Ronald McDermott of Hagerstown.

He was a 1985 graduate of Clear Spring High School.

He formerly was a cook at Weaver's, Hancock.

He was formerly a member of Explorer Post 75, Hagerstown.

He was an EMT with Community Rescue from 1986 to 1988.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his fiance, Shirley A. Eddy of Hancock; stepfather, Ronald Barkdoll of Hancock; grandparents, Charles H. Barkdoll and Makayla McDermott, both of Hagerstown, and Wesley McDermott of Hancock; three brothers, Brian Barkdoll of Indian Springs, Md., Eddie Barkdoll of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Scott Barkdoll of Hagerstown; two nieces; and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Eugene E. McDermott, Woodrow Jacobs, Richard Anderson and Virginia Anderson.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown. Pastor Louis Emerick will officiate.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, which will open at 3 p.m.

Gary R. Bass, 28



SEPT. 12, 1980-SEPT. 14, 2008

HANCOCK, Md. - Gary R. Bass, age 28, of White Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Md.

Born Sept. 12, 1980, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of Ruth A. Henderson Bass of Hancock and the late Henry E. Bass.

He was a 1998 graduate of Hancock High School.

He was employed as a sales representative for Wilbar Trucks Equipment Inc., Smithsburg, Md.

He served with the United States Marine Corps in the Persian Gulf.

His favorite things were love of baseball, hunting, fishing and reading.

Besides his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Rick G. Bass of Hayes, Va., and Steven A. Bass of Hancock.

A service will be held Friday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m. at Damascus Christian Cemetery, Big Cove Tannery, Pa. The Rev. Duane L. Jensen will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining Damascus Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Damascus Christian Church, 199 Pittman Road, Big Cove Tannery, PA 17212.




Joseph S. Lustick Jr., 60

WATAUGA, Tenn. - Joseph S. Lustick Jr., 60, of 316 W. Fifth Ave., died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, in Bristol, Tenn.

Born Aug. 22, 1948, in Altoona, Pa., he was the son of Joseph S. Lustick Sr. and Josephine Marie Cataldo Lustick, both of Waynesboro, Pa.

He was a 1966 graduate of Levittown High School.

He was employed as a security guard by Exide Battery in Bristol.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one son, Joseph S. Lustick III of Hope Mills, N.C.; one sister, Carol Allese of Waynesboro; one nephew; and four nieces.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Waynesboro. The Rev. Dennis G. Dalessandro will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery, Waynesboro.

Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.




Charlotte P. Aldridge, 90



DEC. 17, 1917-SEPT. 15, 2008

Charlotte Pauline Aldridge, 90, of 55 E. Washington St., Hagerstown, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at Julia Manor Health Care Center.

Born Dec. 17, 1917, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Alfred B. and Lilly V. Mummert Provard.

She retired in 1983 from Reisners Manufacturing after 33 years of service.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three nieces, Anna Mae McSherry of Hagerstown, Mildred Stavros of Newton, Pa., and Connie Rosso of Carlisle, Pa.; one nephew, Walter Whorten of Boonsboro; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Lavina M. Markle, Blanche Whorten, Martha I. Miller, Viola Deardorff and Catherine Orcutt; and four brothers, Richard Provard, William Provard, Arthur Clarence Provard and John Provard.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Clark D. Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Macedonia Church Cemetery, Bino, Pa.

The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Mary A. Webb, 85

Mary Alice Grove Webb, 85, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at Northside Hospital in Cumming, Ga.

Born Oct. 24, 1922, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles William and Virginia Dunham Grove.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Webb.

She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Norcross, Ga.

She is survived by one brother, Harry D. Grove of Hagerstown.
