Is the August 21st wrong sizing decision of the Supervisors in our community's best interest today and in the future?

COMMENTS FROM FORMER ASST. ROADMASTER BOB WIBLE

I hereby forward my concerns with the Dhillon Management Study. In article B. of the study "Mr." Dhillon stated that staff arrived at 7:00 and contemplated the work for the day until 8:00. "Mr." Dhillon was never present at the township building at the time indicated to eyewitness this account. This is completely here say based on what the "supervisors" have told him. If the road crew was simply "hanging out" then the other personnel (office staff) would have been witness to that account. On page 26 of the study, "Mr." Dhillon did not specifically state that the Asst. Roadmaster position be eliminated. My role was more of a lead worker instead of Asst. Roadmaster. With my seniority, why wasn't I stripped of the title Asst. Roadmaster and given the opportunity to continue my job as a laborer? The first time I was to meet face-to-face with "Mr." Dhillon, he was 20 minutes late (costing the taxpayers money). He met with me for 5 minutes. The second meeting, which was held on a job site due to his (Mr. Dhillon) lack of punctuality, lasted about 15 minutes. There were no specific questions concerning the day-to day operations of the township. I did ask him personally if he was looking to outsource or downsize. Mr. Dhillon said, "you (the township) have a good combination of in house and outsourcing. There will be no downsizing."

Please note that the last sentence is a complete quote from Mr. Dhillon.

Antrim Township needs to consider the many projects now in progress or on the horizon that will take much staff, Planners, and Supervisors time to administer, inspect, and will create additional work levels. Without proper staff, engineers and attorneys will be involved with the day today administration of these items. Here is a listing of these projects:

  • Sewer pretreatment

  • Water treatment plant upgrade and future grant administration

  • Abandonment of lift station #4 and new sewer main installation

  • I & I slip lining of existing sewer main lines

  • Shared Use Trail

  • Antrim Township Community Park major project

  • Nutrient Trading (Legacy Soils) program

  • Future police services

  • Economic development and infrastructure work on lands adjacent to I-81, Route 11 corridor

  • On lot disposal of sewage

  • Mandatory business / industry recycling program; leaf and yard waste collection program

  • Emergency services support and staffing needs

In summary, Dhillon Management Services web-site states, "Mr. Dhillon is a career consultant who works solely for local government agencies. Mr. Dhillon is a detailed-oriented anlayst (misspelled 'analyst') who firmly believes that findings and recommendations need to be based on a thorough analysis of workloads and service levels." This was not done in Antrim Township!

Respectfully submitted on behalf of the former employees of Antrim Township.
