Hagerstown man faces drug charge after police search vehicle

September 16, 2008

Hagerstown police on Monday charged a Hagerstown man with possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine.

On Monday afternoon, officers on patrol responded to a complaint about a vehicle with two men inside, parked in the 500 block of West Howard Street, police said in a news release.

A Washington County Sheriff's deputy responded with a drug-sniffing K9, which alerted to the driver's door, police said.

Officers searched the vehicle and found more than 50 grams of suspected crack cocaine with a street value of between $2,000 and $3,000, officers said.

Jerome Andre Broadus, 32, of N. Jonathan St., was charged and was being held at the Washington County Detention Center Tuesday morning on $30,000 bond, a deputy said.
