Healthy aging series

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -West Virginia University Hospitals-East's OWLS Program for seniors ages 55 and older is offering a healthy aging series at 11 a.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 16, through Oct. 7, at Berkeley Senior Center, 217 N. High St. Topics are:

Sept. 16 - "There is No Excuse Not to Exercise," with Brian White, exercise specialist, The Wellness Center at City Hospital.

Sept. 23 - "Please Pass the Peas," with Joan Starliper, City Hospital and The Wellness Center.

Sept. 30 - "Diabetes Awareness," with Pam Gesford, certified diabetes educator, City Hospital.

Oct. 7 - "How to Talk to Your Doctor," with Drs. Vineet Sood and Devika Hanumara.

Arthritis remedies

FREDERICK, Md. - The Arthritis Research Institute is partnering with Shepherd University and the Arthritis Foundation to present an arthritis seminar, "Powerful and Effective Remedies ... Are They Right for You?" The seminar will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, W.Va. There also will be a 2 p.m. presentation for Shepherd University nursing students and health professionals.
