Change of Banner event held at Legion



Eleven West Hagerstown Lions Club members attended the Change of Banner event on Aug. 2 at the Northern Avenue American Legion.

The event was hosted by the Long Meadow Lions Club, the home of District Gov. Susan Timmons.

West Hagerstown Lions Club was the recipient of several awards, including the 100 percent visitation award. Lion Teresa Ferenz was recognized with the 100 percent Newsletter Award and Donna Jackman received the 100 percent Secretary Award.

Lt. Overcash speaks to club



Lt. Art Overcash of the Washington County Sheriff's Department will present valuable information on the sex offender's registry at the Sept. 15 meeting. He will provide an overview of the registry and the information that is provided to residents of the community.

Sandwich sale



The club's first ham sandwich sale of the year is in progress. Country ham sandwiches cost $2.25 apiece and baked ham sandwiches cost $1.75.

Picnic a hit



On Sept. 2, the club attended the Rouzerville Lions Club's annual picnic at Red Run Park in Rouzerville, Pa. This was a fun event and the members got a chance to socialize with the Lions from across the Pennsylvania State Line.

Coupon books



Club members are selling Bon Ton Books to help raise funds for club projects. These books sell for $5 each and include a $10 off on a purchase and contain additional coupons to get a discount on other items purchased. These coupons are valid on Saturday, Nov. 15 and can be used at any Bon Ton store. Members will be selling the books at Valley Mall during in October.
