The Seburns

Dale and Carolyn Seburn of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 10, 2008.

They spent the week of their anniversary at a beach house in Southern Shores on the Outer Banks of North Carolina with their children and grandchildren. Those attending included Kevin and Pamela Seburn of Hancock, and Kendra and Jeffrey Hightower of Cary, N.C., and their children. The Seburns also were hosted by family and friends at dinners and gatherings. The Seburns also plan to take a cruise to the Polynesian Islands.

They were married in the Broadfording Church of the Brethren by the Rev. J. Stanley Earhart, now deceased.

Mrs. Seburn is the daughter of Hazel Angle of Cearfoss, and the late Kenneth Angle.

Mr. Seburn is the son of the late Charles and Hazel Seburn.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Seburn graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1956. Mrs. Seburn worked for 42 years with Washington County Public Schools and Hagerstown Community College as a secondary mathematics teacher and as a supervisor. She retired in 2002.


Mr. Seburn is a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Fort Detrick in 1997 with 35 years of service in medical research.

The Cramptons

Lloyd "Bubby" and Reva Crampton of Sharpsburg, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on July 12, 2008, at their daughter's home.

The surprise party was hosted by the couple's daughter and husband, Jeanne and Roger Ecton, granddaughter and husband, and grandson and wife. Celebrating with the couple were family and friends.

The Rev. John Myers married the Cramptons on July 10, 1948, in Sharpsburg.

Mrs. Crampton is the former Reva Jamison. She worked at the Sewing Factory in Hagerstown for 15 years. She also managed Antietam Grocery in Antietam for five years.

Mr. Crampton worked at the Hagerstown Shoe Co. in Hagerstown for 34 years. He also worked at Catoctin Mountain Park in Thurmont for 15 years before retiring in 1993.
