September 14, 2008

Motorcycle riders from Maryland and West Virginia gathered at Doub's Woods Park in Hagerstown recently to enjoy a ride sponsored by Women Build of Habitat for Humanity Washington County.

The 20 riders raised more than $750 to support the home-building project on Concord Street in Hagerstown.

Sen. Donald Munson and Kathleen O'Connell, a Women Build volunteer, judged the motorcycles in several best-of-show categories.

Recipients of the awards included Cindy Robinson, Meanest Woman's Bike; Joanne Joyce, Sweetest Woman's Bike; Larry Milihram, Best American Bike; Todd Duke, Best Foreign Bike; and Devon Donovan, Best Overall Bike.

Habitat for Humanity of Washington County is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization.

Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity initiative that brings together women from all walks of life and skill levels to help build houses. Women involved with its local Women Build program have built two houses and are building their third house.
