Portion of South Potomac Street to be closed for work on school

September 13, 2008

Beginning at 3 a.m. Monday, the western through-lane of South Potomac Street will be closed between Washington Street and the First Hose Fire Co. so that work crews can install structural steel on the roof of the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts. The eastern through-lane will remain open to traffic.

Sidewalks on the western side of the street will be closed at either end of the work zone during working hours. Motorists approaching the work zone will encounter cones, barricades, flagmen, and other traffic control devices. On-street parking will be removed adjacent to the work zone.

The contractor anticipates that the crane will remain in place, and that this portion of South Potomac Street will remain closed until Sept. 26.

Emergency vehicles will be able to pass through the work zone.
