CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Tony Redman, director of Jefferson County's planning and zoning departments, said Thursday he is resigning.

Redman said he is leaving the county no later than Oct. 25 to take a supervisory job with URS Corp. in Millsboro, Del.

Redman said he also will be setting up a branch office for the company, which does land planning, in Centerville, Md.

Redman said URS officials sought him out. "It's not like I went looking," he said.

Redman is considered to be among the best land planners and was in Jefferson County about a year and a half.
