Contract to build Mount Aetna water tank approved

A contract to build a water storage tank in Mount Aetna was awarded Tuesday by the Washington County Commissioners to PSI Pumping Solutions Inc. of York Springs, Va.

PSI Pumping Solutions Inc. submitted the low bid of $265,100 for the contract. The other bidder, Callas Contractors Inc. of Hagerstown, bid $308,000.

The commissioners unanimously approved PSI Pumping Solutions' bid.

The project will include building and installing a 105,000-gallon water storage tank, yard piping and pump; removal and installation of a 6-foot high fence; and the installation of fire hydrants and concrete pads.

The project is contracted for 180 days.

The new tank will improve water pressure in the area, County Administrator Gregory B. Murray said Tuesday.

The current 48,000-gallon tank loses water pressure when it gets low, Murray said.

Change order approved for 911 center renovation

The Washington County Commissioners on Tuesday unanimously approved a $104,318.44 change order to the 911 center renovation project.

The change order will pay Palmer Construction to add electric power panels and wiring in the building's basement.

The additional panels are needed to power equipment from Motorola, Verizon and the county's information technology department that was not originally planned for the building.

With the change order, the project's cost is estimated at $2.12 million, Project Manager Gary Pozzouli said Wednesday.
