Maps of possible PATH power line routes available online

September 09, 2008

Aerial photographs showing the possible routes of a planned high-voltage power line are available on the Internet.

Allegheny Energy and American Electric Power have posted the maps on a Web site the companies created about the Potomac Appalachian Transmission Highline (PATH), a proposed high-voltage transmission line that would run from West Virginia to Frederick County, Md.

The Web site includes more than 750 maps that show several possible routes for the line. Some of those routes would pass through Washington County.

The aerial photographs clearly show plots of land and include dotted lines where the proposed routes would run.

The maps are printable versions of the maps that were on display at a series of public meetings the companies held last month.
