September 09, 2008

Danny Benjamin, right, prepares a steel girder to be lifted in place Monday afternoon for the Donald S. Smith Financial Center being built at the Bank of Charles Town in downtown Charles Town, W.Va. One of the bank's founders, Smith joined the bank in 1947 as a messenger and worked his way up to president and chief executive officer until his retirement in 1991. The Donald S. Smith Financial Center, expected to be completed in January, will give the bank along Washington Street room for growth; and the drive-thru will be increased from three to five lanes, bank officials said.
