Plan to install cell antennae on Rouzerville water tank OK'd

September 08, 2008

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - A Sprint PCS affiliate has received the local governmental OK to install antennae on an existing water tank in Rouzerville, Pa.

Washington Township Supervisors Carroll Sturm, John Gorman and Christopher Firme approved the plan last Wednesday. Supervisor Elaine Gladhill abstained from the vote, and Supervisor Stephen Kulla was absent.

The approval for six telecommunications antennae came with the conditions that they must be painted blue and that Shenandoah Personal Communications Co./Shentel must get a letter of acceptance from the tank manufacturer.

Shentel had asked to put the antennae 115 feet up the water tank between Pa. 16 and Old Route 16 east of Capital Camps.

The company has a lease agreement with the Washington Township Municipal Authority. It calls for payments of $1,750 a month to the water authority.
