Steak feed

The Vietnam Vets Last Man's Club of American Legion Post 42 on Northern Avenue in Hagerstown will hold its annual steak feed Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

All veterans and their guests are invited. Tickets cost $12, which includes a Delmonico steak dinner with all the trimmings, games, door prizes, etc. Tickets are available from any member and at the post home. For more information, call 301-733-7676.

Meet-the-teacher night will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Team pictures for all sports will be Friday, Sept. 19, at 3:15 p.m. Order and payment are due when pictures are taken.

Dance lessons

The Women's Club junior dance classes will begin Sunday, Sept. 21, at 6 p.m. Registration is under way for these classes. Students in sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grades will be taught the fox trot, swing, waltz, tango, rumba, cha-cha and some couples dances. Pancake breakfast

Shiloh United Methodist Church, 19731 Shiloh Church Road, will have a pancake breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 7 to 11 a.m.

The menu includes pancakes, Hoffman sausage, sausage gravy, puddin', fruit cup, orange juice and coffee.

Tickets cost $6 for adults and $3 for ages 6 to 12.

Proceeds will go to the Alivia Koontz Medical Fund.

TOPS 446

TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 446 members heard Frankie lead the program last week. She gave the members a quote from Dr. Nick to read and discuss. She plans to give the group another quote to discuss at the next meeting.

The group welcomed a new member, Betty, and the members were happy that last week's new member, Sheila, had a good first-week loss.

The group meets Wednesdays for weigh-in from 9 to 9:30 a.m. with the meeting from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The group meets at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 19731 Shiloh Church Road, Hagers-town.

TOPS 77

On Sept. 2, the TOPS 77 chapter welcomed two new members. Maida and Edna returned after being away for about six years. Joan reported the chapter spent $5,021 at its play money auction.

Mary Lynne Herald led the program taken from "The Choice Is Mine" TOPS guidebook. The "Get-R-Done" contest winner was Rosemary Gill with a 3 1/2-pound loss. The group discussed upcoming projects for the next four months.

This week the group will be meeting at Martin L. "Marty" Snook Memorial Park in Halfway for the montly awards event and annual picnic.

The chapter meets Mondays at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave. Weigh-in is from 7:15 to 9:20 a.m., exercise is at 8:30 a.m., and the meeting is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. For more information, contact Donna at301-223-8143 or Patsy at 301-582-2292.

Financial course offered at church

Financial Peace University is coming to Trinity Lutheran Church, 15 Randolph Ave., Hagerstown.  This is a 13-week course with classes each Wednesday evening from 7 to 9, beginning Wednesday. 

FPU is a biblically based accountability curriculum that will teach us to manage God's money and resources in a godly way.  It empowers us to make the right financial decisions to achieve our financial goals, teaching us to eliminate debt, build wealth, and give like never before. 

On average, families reduce their debt by $5,300 and save $2,700 in just 91 days.  Classes are held in the Fellowship Hall, entrance off of the parking lot to the rear of the church.  Participation kits cost $99.  Childcare will be provided.

Church concert

The public is invited to attend a concert given by Guilford Station Bluegrass Gospel to be held on Sunday at 2 p.m., at Mt. Zion Church, 14336 Greencastle Pike. Refreshments will be served. A goodwill offering will be collected for the group during a short intermission.
