The Washington County Sheriff's Department on Friday was investigating a possible strong-arm carjacking Thursday night in Maugansville.

A driver for Miller Transportation reported that two men stole a white Chevrolet Lumina belonging to the company, according to a sheriff's department news release.

The driver, Daniel Howard Brown, 44, of Hagerstown, told authorities that he picked up a man in the 13000 block of Maugansville Road and took him to an address on Donald Street, deputies said.

When they arrived, a second man approached the car and broke the rear window on the driver's side, deputies said.

Howard told authorities he crawled out of the vehicle through the passenger-side door and was assaulted by the men. He sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention, the release states.

The men took $100 to $110 from the vehicle, police said.

The Lumina was recovered at about 12:30 a.m., after authorities received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 13000 block of Pennsylvania Ave., according to deputies.

One of the men was described as a black man, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds and wearing black clothing. The other man was described as a black man, about 6 feet tall, weighing 185 pounds and wearing black clothing and a white bandanna around his face.

Anyone with information about the incident may call the sheriff's office at 301-791-3020.
