Cougars edged out in opener (8/30)

BROOKE, W.Va. -- Dewey McDonald scored Jefferson's lone touchdown in the second quarter as the Cougars dropped their season opener.

A blocked extra point left Jefferson behind 7-6, and Brooke made it stand up with a second-half score.

McDonald gained 69 yards on 15 rushing attempts as Jefferson managed 92 yards on the ground.

Quarterback Brandon Hyler completed 9 of 19 attempts for 92 yards, but suffered three interceptions.
