Where to find corn mazes in the Tri-State area

Here are some of the corn mazes this season in the Tri-State area:

Misty Meadow Farm,
northeast of Leitersburg and north of Smithsburg

Tractor Memories is a 3- to 4-acre maze that looks, from overhead, like a tractor and spells out "Herbst Farm." The Herbsts have different quiz handouts to help participants find their way through the maze. There are various agricultural quizzes and a biblical quiz. There is also a petting farm and a pumpkin patch.

WHEN: Fridays and Saturdays through Saturday, Nov. 1. 4 p.m. to dusk on Fridays, 1 p.m. to dusk on Saturdays.

Stoner's Dairy Farm & Corn Maze,
east of Mercersburg, Pa.

The 5-acre maze has a pirate theme that includes a treasure chest containing milk, cheese and yogurt. Trivia signs are posted throughout the maze to help guide visitors. Almost two miles of trails in the maze. Admission price also includes a hayride and a petting area. Refreshments, pumpkins and fall décor for sale.


WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 6, through Sunday, Oct. 26. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Town & Country Nursery's corn maze,
east of Leetown, W.Va.

The maze is approximately nine acres. Participants get a colored card with numbers in a line on the card. These are coded messages; participants solve the code using clues in the maze. Differently colored cards have different messages. There is a straw bale maze for children. Hayrides are available. In October, pick your pumpkin and popcorn on the cob for sale.

Winterbrook Farms,
southeast of Thurmont, Md.

A 15-acre corn maze with eight miles of trails. The lost-treasure design includes a yacht, a shark and a scuba diver approaching a treasure chest. Find 18 checkpoints with a different hole-punch at each checkpoint to mark your map. Winterbrook also has a pumpkin cannon and a corn/apple cannon. Concession stand.

WHEN: Open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Friday, Sept. 19, to Sunday, Nov. 2. Hours are 6 to 10 p.m. on Fridays; noon to 10 p.m. Saturdays; and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Ridgefield Farm & Orchard,
northwest of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.

The corn maze is approximately 5 acres. A smaller corn maze, about half an acre in size, is available for small children. Separate cost for House of Panic haunted house.

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 20, to Sunday, Oct. 26. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays; 7 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Tri-State Fellowship corn maze,
northwest of Hagerstown

The 3-acre maze has an eagle, a Bible and an apple pie in its design. Make your own scarecrow to take home for free. Pumpkins, apples, mums and cornstalks for sale. Proceeds from these sales and maze tickets benefit children's and student ministries at Tri-State Fellowship.

WHEN: Weekends, Saturday, Sept. 20, through Sunday, Oct. 19. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 2 to 6 p.m. Sundays.

Star Community Barnyard Jamboree corn maze

The one-acre corn maze will be haunted on Saturdays from 6:30 p.m. to midnight. A haunted hayride also will be offered Saturday nights, starting at 6:30 p.m.
