Everclear to headline Downtown Live! festival in Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN -- Everclear, Sister Hazel and Carbon Leaf will headline the Downtown Live! Music and Arts Festival next month on Public Square in Hagerstown.

Promoters hope a diverse crowd will gather when the bands take the stage Oct. 25 at 2 p.m., said Jeff Britton, a booking agent for Demcore Entertainment, the company that has organized Downtown Live! for the past three years.

SOJA, Jimmie's Chicken Shack and The Fox Hunt also have been scheduled to perform.

"They're just artists we think will have an appeal," Britton said. "We think it will be a good mix of music and attract a variety of people."

Britton said the last of the acts was signed last week. Tickets are on sale for $29 at

Downtown Live! will continue to be a "green festival" by ensuring that all of the food and drink containers are recyclable, he said.


Everclear drew attention in the 1990s with the hit songs "Santa Monica," "Heroin Girl" and "Father of Mine."

According to Everclear's MySpace page, lead singer and guitarist Art Alexakis is the only remaining member of the original three-piece band.

Sister Hazel also gained attention in the 1990s after the band's biggest hit, "All For You," peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In addition to the music, Downtown Live! will feature more than 60 arts and crafts vendors.

Alcohol will be available during Downtown Live! to people who are 21 and older.
