Thomas E. Wolf, 71

ST. THOMAS, Pa. -- Thomas E. Wolf, 71, of 2812 Keller Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.

Born in Nashville, Tenn., he was the son of the late Charles E. and Loretto A. Quest Wolf.

He was a 1955 graduate of Father Ryan High School in Nashville and a 1975 graduate of the University of Alabama at Huntsville, Ala.

He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in 1988, where he worked at the Depot System Command as a quality assurance specialist.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg, where he was a eucharistic minister, taking communion to the sick. He also served on the Men's Retreat Committee and was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Edwards Wolf, whom he married Feb. 27, 1965; one daughter, Jennifer L. Monn of Shippensburg, Pa.; one son, Joseph D. Wolf of Scranton, Pa.; four sisters, Marie Baltz of Donnelson, Tenn., Loretto Garvie of Huntsville, Dorothy Solgot of Madison, Tenn. and Josephine Mason of Goodlettesville, Tenn.; one brother, Casper Wolf of San Antonio; three grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Wolf.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church in Chambersburg. The Rev. James R. O'Brien will be celebrant. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery, with military honors by Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW.

Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home in Chambersburg, with a vigil service from 8 to 8:30 p.m.

Mary H. Slothour, 93

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Mary H. Slothour, 93, of 27 Slothour Road, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at her home.

Born Nov. 18, 1914, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Bertha McKenzie Helman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, S. Roy Slothour, in 1995.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Browns Mill District.

She is survived by two daughters, E. Marie Huffman of Dayton, Ohio and Rosalind S. Myers of Chambersburg; one son, Donald Slothour of Marion, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; and 63 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Browns Mill Meeting House in Chambersburg. The Home Brethren will officiate. Burial will be in the Browns Mill Cemetery Kauffman Station.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home in Greencastle, Pa.

The family requests the omission of flowers.




Bernice V. Gossard, 77

Bernice Virginia "Grace" Gossard, 77, of 503 W. Washington St., Apt. 4, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at her home.

Born May 22, 1931, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Roy Lee and Irene Erma Cunningham Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer Richard Gossard Sr., in 1974.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Bethany Evangelical Free Church in Waynesboro, Pa.

She is survived by three sons, Gary L. Seekford at home, Wilmer R. Gossard Jr. of Chambersburg, Pa. and George W. Gossard of Hagerstown; one sister, Phyllis Scuffins of Boonsboro; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmore F. Miller and Larry M. Miller.

Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pastor J. William Kesecker will officiate.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home in Williamsport, which will open at 1 p.m.

Jean M. Sauter, 72

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. -- Jean M. Sauter, 72, of Falling Waters, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at her home.

Born March 9, 1936, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. Creager and Anna E. Jones.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Sauter Sr.

She was a Lutheran.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society of Hagerstown.

She is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Neff and Joyce Turner, both of Baltimore and Karen Harlan of Pennsylvania; two sons, Raymond C. Sauter Jr. and Daniel Sauter, both of Falling Waters; 11 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandson; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles G. Creager.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Home in Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. Dennis Sieglaff will officiate.
