CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- In its first match in program history, Washington lost 25-16, 25-21, 25-14 to visiting Clarke County.

For Washington, Samantha Larcomb had six kills and three blocks, Lindsey Walls had three aces, Steph Kerns and Tiffanie Kerns each had two digs and Rachel Rawn had 10 assists.

MERCERSBURG, Pa. -- The Blue Storm opened with a convincing win as Andra Metz and Coralie Thomas each scored three goals.

Anmargaret Warner, Cammie Reilly, Arcadia Hartung and Clare Shearer each scored goals. Hartung also had two assists and Jane Banta had four saves.

St. James game moved to South

St. James School's season-opening varsity football game against Randolph-Macon Academy will be played at South Hagerstown High School at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Athletic director Mike Brooks said a new irrigation system had been installed at St. James and the football field would not be ready in time to play the game at home.

The Saints' next scheduled home game is Sept. 13 against West Nottingham Academy.
