Valley Mall searched after bomb threat

September 04, 2008

HALFWAY -- The Washington County Sheriff's Department searched Valley Mall on Wednesday after emergency dispatchers received a bomb threat, Lt. Tim Baker said.

The call was made about 5:35 p.m. and the caller said a bomb was in or around the mall before hanging up, Baker said. The unit spent about an hour checking all the stores and did not find anything, Baker said. The mall was not evacuated, he said.

The call was made from a cell phone and authorities were not able to trace it other than to determine that it hit a cell tower in the Maugansville area, he said.
