Troop plans reunion

Boy Scout Troop 58 of Downsville will celebrate its 60th anniversary on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Camp Merrimac.

All past and present members are invited to attend. To RSVP, call Dave Campbell at 301-582-0660. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish to share. Troop 58 will supply the main dish.

Class of 1997 

The Williamsport High School class of 1997 reunion will be Saturday and Sunday. A get-together will be held Saturday at Burhans Station at 6 p.m. in the downstairs area for adults only. On Sunday there will be a family picnic at Byron Memorial Park at noon. Class members will have to buy their own drinks on Saturday and provide their own lunch on Sunday. Saluting veterans

As part of the Williamsport World War II Weekend, the Town of Williamsport and the Town Museum would like to invite WW II veterans to join them on Saturday, Sept. 13, under the old Army tent at 3:30 p.m. for a time to share their stories, pictures, memorabilia and to be honored and recognized for their service to our country at the Springfield Farm Barn, 14 Springfield Lane. USO event

Tickets are still available for the USO Canteen - Dinner, Dance & Show on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 6 to 10 p.m. in the Springfield Farm Barn.

Blue Band Tag Day

The Williamsport High School Blue Band will hold its annual Tag Day on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Band members will be going door-to-door to collect donations. In return for their donation, residents will receive a hanging tag to display their support of the band. 

Band uniforms to be unveiled 

Less than a year ago, the Williamsport Blue Band began the task of raising more than $45,000 to buy new uniforms for the band. To date, the group has raised about one-quarter of its goal and was able to obtain a loan to purchase the uniforms.

The uniforms have arrived and all are invited to the unveiling on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Martinsburg (W.Va.) Tournament of Bands at Martinsburg High School. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or through Band Director Bob Stike. He can be reached at stikerob@wcboe.k12.md.us.

Class of 1957

WHS Class of 1957 will hold a covered-dish picnic at Byron Park Pavilion 3 to celebrate its 51st class reunion on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, call Larry Horchner at 301-223-9280.

TOPS

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 454 of Williamsport is up and running for the fall season. The group offers light exercise, programs and fellowship. The chapter meets Tuesdays at Zion Lutheran Church, 35 W. Potomac St., Williamsport.
