A judge on Tuesday lowered the bond for a Hagerstown man accused of pointing a handgun at his ex-girlfriend Sunday night, Washington County District Court records show.
Allen Lee Ellis Jr., 24, of 297-A Frederick St., was being held Tuesday night at the Washington County Detention Center on $175,000 bond. His bond had been $250,000.
Ellis was charged with two counts each of first- and second-degree assault, court records show. He also was charged with use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and malicious destruction of property, court records show.
Ellis' ex-girlfriend and another woman told police Ellis sent his ex-girlfriend a threatening text message while the women were driving near his house Sunday night and said Ellis pointed a handgun at them, Hagerstown Police Officer C. Biden wrote in his application for charges. The women also said Ellis threw an object at their vehicle and cracked the windshield, Biden wrote.
