Area roundup: Shepherd's Sutch honored by WVIAC

PRINCETON, W.Va. - Shepherd University running back Jimmy Sutch was named WVIAC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Rams to a 20-16 win over Shippensburg.

Sutch, of Hagerstown and a Saint James graduate, rushed for 201 yards on 26 carries in his first career start as 13th-ranked Shepherd rallied past the Red Raiders.

He scored on rushes of 78 and 7 yards to help Shepherd capture the Great Valley Classic against rival Shippensburg for a fourth consecutive season.


Fountain Head champ

Paul Mellott won the Men's Club Championship at Fountain Head Country Club with a victory over Ted Bratthauar on the third playoff hole. It is the second club title for Mellott, who also is the current senior club champion.



Barclay Baile recorded a hole-in-one on the 8th hole at Beaver Creek using a 6-iron from 169 yards. He was playing with his sons, Brett and Brady, and Dave Smith.


Lock Haven 1, Shepherd 0

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. Caitlyn Slattery scored on an assist from Lindsey Blessing in the 73rd minute on Monday to lift Lock Haven to a win over Shepherd University.

Freshman Lauren Vetock recorded three saves for the Rams.

Shepherd falls to 0-2.
