Homewood at Williamsport quilters raise money

August 31, 2008

WILLIAMSPORT - At Homewood at Williamsport, the joy of quilting is best exemplified in the living room of the health care center, where you'll find women of all ages surrounding an old-fashioned quilt frame, with each woman working on her section of the quilt.

The quilters, made up of residents, volunteers and some staff members, are busy adding stitches and squares to the queen-sized quilt that will be on display in the new health care center currently under construction on the Homewood campus.

Earlier in the year, a "Log Cabin" quilt created by these women raised $640 in a raffle for the Building our Tradition fund that is dedicated to the new health care center.

The new health care center will replace the existing 58-year-old original building. The new center should be completed in the summer of 2009, according to Rich Lenehan, executive director of Homewood at Williamsport.
