Suns edge Captains 3-2 in 10 innings

August 31, 2008

Pinch runner Valerio Heredia scored from third on a passed ball with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Hagertown Suns beat the Lake County Captains 3-2 on Saturday night at Municipal Stadium.

Jake Rogers led off with a single in the 10th against reliever Garrison Campfield (7-4) and was replaced by Heredia, who advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Bryan Miller.

After a single by Mark Gildea put runners on the corners, Jose Lozada walked to load the bases. With Tim Pahuta batting, a pitch got away from Captains catcher Adam Davis, allowing the winning run to score.

The Suns, who only had four hits in the game, took a 2-0 lead in the third inning. Jake Rogers walked, stole second, went to third on an error and scored on Gildea's RBI groundout. Lozada followed with a two-out solo home run to right-center field.
