Corporate golf challenge helps raise money for county Boys & Girls Club

August 31, 2008

A team from Cumberland Valley Insurance took the top honors at the fourth annual Manpower Corporate Golf Challenge to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County.

Thirty teams competed in the Florida scramble tournament which required each team to have a corporate sponsor with at least two players being owners, employees or members of the corporation.

"We want to thank Manpower for coming up with this idea and sponsoring this tournament since its inception," said Jim Deaner, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club. "This event helps provide the resources necessary for the Boys & Girls Club to continue meeting the needs of local children."

Flight winners from the tournament were Coca-Cola, Advantage Realty, My Bank/First United and the Hagerstown Housing Authority. Cumberland Valley Insurance edged last year's champion Coca-Cola by only one stroke to capture the 2008 crown.
