Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA



The Greencastle, Pa., office of Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA has added Brian R. Buterbaugh as a sales professional.

Buterbaugh is a member of Metropolitan Regional Information System Multi-List, Pen Mar Regional Association of Realtors and National Association of Realtors. He is attending Gaughen's AccelERAtion program, an intensive five-week course designed for in-depth training to give new agents a head start in the real estate business.

Buterbaugh is a lifelong resident of Franklin County.

Balanced Living Resources



The Rev. Earl L. "Buck" Summers has been certified as an associate instructor in three people-related seminars by Walk Thru the Bible.

Summers, owner of Balanced Living Resources in Chambersburg, Pa., a counseling, consulting, and speaking service, is trained to present Solving the People Puzzle (personal relationships), Understanding the Love of Your Life (marriage) and Building a Results Oriented Team (organizations).

Summers has been counseling and training adults and teenagers in personal temperament for 20 years.

Central Maryland AFL-CIO Council



Shane D. Weagly has been named director of the Committee on Political Education (COPE) for the Central Maryland AFL-CIO Council, which covers Washington and Frederick counties.

Weagly will be responsible for administering the COPE program with other affiliates of the AFL-CIO. He brings years of experience to the position, having been an activist in state, county and municipal elections as a delegate from United Auto Workers 171.

SCORE



Two local SCORE chapter leaders, Bill Beard and Bob Poor, have received the SCORE Platinum Leadership Award, the highest honor the association can designate for a volunteer member. Volunteers receiving the award must have demonstrated meritorious service and made a significant contribution to SCORE, including having served in a leadership position.

Current SCORE chapter chairman David Peters made the presentations at the chapter's annual dinner and awards at Fountain Head Country Club. Beard and Poor serve the Hagerstown chapter as small-business counselors and members of the board of directors.

Peters also announced the following membership additions at Hagerstown's SCORE Chapter 539:

o Martha Mattare, assistant professor at the Frostburg State University college of business. At SCORE, Mattare will provide individual small-business counseling, especially as it relates to business startups, management, human resources and business planning/strategy.

o J.W. Wohlever, owner of his own consulting business, will offer small-business counseling at SCORE with special emphasis related to real estate, residential building and lending, and consulting.

AIG/American General



Mike Foster, a sales representative with AIG/American General Life and Accident Insurance Co., was named employee of the month for July.

Foster, of Hagerstown, earned the recognition because of outstanding sales and service.

He joined the company in December 1993.

Cumberland Valley ABC, Barr Construction Institute



The Cumberland Valley Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. and the Barr Construction Institute held an apprenticeship/craft training graduation banquet Aug. 14 in Hagerstown.

The chapter recognized the following six students for having perfect attendance during the 2007-08 school year:
