Bicycle team rides through city to raise awareness for those with disabilities

August 31, 2008

The Push America Team visited the Potomac Center on Aug. 14 on its cross country bicycle tour to increase awareness of the need for sensitivity to those with disabilities and for openness to the skills and contributions those with disabilities can offer the community if given the chance.

The team, comprised of college students, set up "camp" in the Potomac Center's activities building, visited with individuals and ate a meal that the Potomac Center's staff provided.

After spending the night in the gym, the team set out early the next morning on the last leg of its trip from San Francisco to Washington, D.C., a trip of 3,000 miles.

The Potomac Center is off Marshall Street in Hagerstown.
