Puttin' for Paws set for Sept. 10

The inaugural Puttin' for Paws Golf Tournament will be hosted by Greg and Ruth Smith.

The event will be held at Black Rock Golf Course on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Registration will be at 7:30 a.m. and a shotgun start will be at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $280 for preregistered foursomes and $300 on the day of the event. Lunch will be included.

The event benefits the Humane Society of Washington County.

Friendship Club to meet Tuesday

The Maugansville Senior Friendship Club will meet Tuesday, Sept. 2. A Dutch treat lunch will be held at Top's Buffet in the North Village Plaza, starting at noon.


This will be the first meeting after the summer break. There will be an installation of officers and a catch-up on what members have been doing since the last meeting. Pride Day

Don't forget, Maugansville is having its Pride Day Saturday at the Ruritan Club grounds. Come out, enjoy the good food, the many vendors or simply just to have some fun.

W. Md. Hospital jewelry sale set

The Western Maryland Hospital Center Auxiliary is sponsoring a jewelry sale on Sept. 3, 4 and 5 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the center on Pennsylvania Avenue in Hagerstown.

There will be more than 1,000 items at $5 apiece. Necklaces, rings, earrings, bracelets, totes, scarves, wallets, shawls, watches and men's ties will be available for sale. The event will be held in the auditorium.

Proceeds from the sale will go to the auxiliary's patient care fund.


Congratulations go out to Betty and Jack Carr of Daisy Circle in Maugansville on their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 30.
