WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Live music and a firetruck display have been added to the offerings of the next Friday After 5 event in downtown Waynesboro.
The 5 to 8 p.m. event on Sept. 5 is designed to complement businesses' specials and discounts with things like sweet potato fries, funnel cakes, music by the Boro Boogie Pickers and face painting. Paperwork from nonprofit organization Main Street Waynesboro Inc. promises that at least 20 businesses will be open until 8 p.m. or later.
"This event is to bring in the community so that they see Waynesboro doesn't shut down at 5 o'clock," said Cyndie Flasher, a representative of Main Street Waynesboro Inc.
Businesses that have received grant money through the Downtown Business Incentive program are required to stay open until 8 p.m. on Fridays. Flasher said the Friday After 5 events have been held to bring people to those shops.
