College football begins

Saturday games include Shepherd Rams at Shippensburg Red Raiders at 1 p.m., West Virginia vs. Villanova at 3:30 p.m. (MASN), Maryland vs. Delaware at 3:45 p.m. (ESPNU) and Penn State vs. Coastal Carolina at noon (Big Ten Network).

Final Suns home game

Last Hagerstown Suns homestand series of the season. Fireworks follow game at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31. Fan Appreciation Day during game at 2:05 p.m. on Labor Day. Every fan attending will get a prize. Series vs. Lake County Captains, a Cleveland Indians affiliate.

Labor Day Classic

Races include pro driver, street, motorcycle, junior dragsters and high school race. Mason-Dixon Dragway on Friday through Monday. Fireworks at 10 p.m. Sunday. Go to

Pooch Plunge

Dogs and owners swim together at Potterfield Pool in Hagerstown from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3. Contests include best tail wagger and best trick. Labor Day breakfast

This annual breakfast attracts several hundred people for grilled steak, country ham and catching up with the neighbors. From 7 to 10 a.m. at War Memorial Park in Martinsburg, W.Va.
