Fire causes $75,000 in damage to Martinsburg home

August 27, 2008

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A fire caused an estimated $75,000 in damage to a home along Brilliant Stone Drive north of Martinsburg, said Scott Schill, chief of the Bedington Volunteer Fire Department.

Schill said no one was injured in the blaze, which was dispatched at 6:04 a.m.

The fire started in a front living room area and appeared to be accidental, but the cause of the blaze remains under investigation, Schill said.

A man who resided at the home at 219 Brilliant Stone Drive wasn't home when the fire started, Schill said.

The Baker Heights Volunteer Fire Department assisted Bedington at the scene, which was cleared about 9 a.m., Schill said.
