August 26, 2008

EASTLAKE, Ohio - The Lake County Captains scored three runs in the second inning and never trailed after that despite committing four errors in a 6-3 victory over the Hagerstown Suns in a South Atlantic League game Monday night.

The Suns scored first when Bryan Miller's double to right plated Jake Rogers for a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning.

The Captains struck right back. Matt McBride and Richard Martinez led off with singles off Suns starter Tom Milone. With one out, Milone walked Jeffrey Hehr and Ron Rivas to force in a run, before Adam White's single made it 2-1 and Juan Valdes' RBI groundout made it 3-1.

Lake County added a run in the third when McBride doubled to left, went to third on Martinez's single and scored on Adam Davis' RBI groundout.

The Captains got the runs right back in the bottom half when Ron Rivas and Adam White led off with singles and Dustin Realini hit a two-run single.

Lake County relievers made the lead stand up with 4 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and three walks.
