Free community health expo
A free community health expo will be held from 3:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, at The Job Center at Elizabeth Hager Center, 14 N. Potomac St. in Hagerstown. Free breast cancer exams and glucose meter screenings will be given. Exhibits include diabetes education; skin damage analyzer and skin cancer education; prostate and colon cancer education; breast and cervical cancer education; tobacco prevention and cessation; prescription and healthcare assistance; caregiver and grief support; pantry on wheels; social services programs; nutrition and wellness; and depression, hypertension and dental education.

Free screenings at community center
Washington County Hospital and the American Heart Association will host free diabetes and cardiovascular disease screenings from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Elgin Station Community Center in Hagerstown. Screenings for adults ages 18 and older will determine their risk for diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Blood will be drawn to test for cholesterol and blood sugar. Those wishing to have their blood checked, must fast from food or drink (except water and prescribed medicine) for 14 hours before the event. Blood pressure checks, weight and body mass index, and health information is also included. A light breakfast will be provided. To register, call 301-790-8907.
