Kenneth W. Harr Sr., 62

BIG COVE TANNERY, Pa. - Kenneth Wilson Harr Sr., 62, of Big Cove Tannery, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at his home.

Born Jan. 5, 1946, in Big Cove Tannery, he was the son of the late David and Ethel Keefer Harr.

He was employed by H. B. Mellott Estates as a truck driver.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sonja Mae Hendershott Harr; one daughter, Lisa Pittman of McConnellsburg, Pa.; two sons, Kenneth Harr Jr. and David Harr, both of McConnellsburg; five sisters, Jane Manley and Helene Weller, both of Needmore, Pa., Doris Carbaugh of Warfordsburg, Pa., Blanche Pine of Mercersburg, Pa., and Grace Souders of McConnellsburg; two brothers, Jobie Harr and Ronnie Harr, both of Needmore; five grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Agnes Gress.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, McConnellsburg. Burial will be in Union Cemetery with the Rev. Denver Plessinger officiating.


Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m.

Julia R. Ludwig, 84

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Julia R. Ludwig, 84, a resident of ManorCare Health Services of Chambersburg, and formerly of Molly Pitcher Highway, Greencastle, Pa., died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at the nursing home.

Born Oct. 2, 1923, in Shippensburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Dewey Blaine and Ruth Pauline Shriner Rosenberry.

Her husband, William L. Ludwig, died Nov. 27, 1997.

She was a graduate of Shippensburg High School.

She retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry in Harrisburg, Pa., where she worked as a clerk typist.

She was a member of the former Trinity United Brethren Church of State Line, Pa., and Beacons Sunday school class.

She was a former member of Bonita Springs (Fla.) Lions Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl T. Freeman of Biglerville, Pa.; one brother, Gerald Rosenberry of Shippensburg; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Rosenberry and Donald Rosenberry.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle. Chaplain Chuck Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Charles B. Waddell Sr., 59

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Charles B. Waddell Sr., 59, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at City Hospital.

Born Oct. 23, 1948, in Hickory, N.C., he was the son of Hilda Criner Waddell of Tennessee and the late Charlie Lester Waddell.

He was a communications engineer with Sprint.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Donna Waddell; three daughters, Tina L. Waddell, Frances E. Carter and Carrie E. Taylor; three sons, Charles B., Christopher L. and Casey S. Waddell; one sister, Frances Robertson; one brother, Donald Waddell; and 14 grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home's South Berkeley Chapel, Inwood, W.Va. The Rev. Kermit Robertson will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Sissonville, W.Va., at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Leslie F. Forrest Sr., 79

MYERSVILLE, Md. - Leslie Franklin "Moonie," "AJ," Forrest Sr., 79, of Myersville, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at Golden Livingcenter, Frederick, Md.

Born Oct. 27, 1928, in Brunswick, Md., he was the son of the late Earl Leslie and Willa Frances Steiner Forrest.

He taught auto mechanics at Brunswick High School until his retirement in 1988.

He was a member of the Maryland National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Hildebrand Forrest; one son, Leslie F. Forrest Jr. of Myersville; and two grandchildren, Stephanie F. Lyons of Alpharetta, Ga., and Lance J. Forrest of Frederick.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown, Md. The Rev. Tracey L. Wiser will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Myersville.

Friends may call anytime Tuesday at the funeral home; the family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Martha J. Pittman, 94, of 9705 Shimpstown Road, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at her home.

Born Sept. 28, 1913, in Mercersburg, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Mullenix Thomas.
