On July 19, South Hagerstown High School class of 1961 graduates held a 65th birthday celebration at the annual class picnic at Doub's Woods.
Eighty-five people were in attendance, and the picnic was enjoyed by all.
The Rev. Jerry Foltz led the group in the blessing before lunch. Rev. and Mrs. Wesley Morgan traveled the longest distance, from Conroe, Texas. Other class members came from Alabama, North Carolina and Ohio.
Buddy Davis, of Lady Lake, Fla., was unable to attend, but provided fried chicken for his classmates.
The picnic included a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Robeson. Robeson was on staff at South High during the 1958-1961 school years.
A meeting was held for ideas for the class' upcoming 50th anniversary, with John Gladwin conducting the session.
The next get-together for the class of 1961 is planned for Homecoming at South High, Oct. 24 at the tailgate party with other graduating classes. The groups will meet before the game for refreshments.
