Hagerstown woman named president of FOE State Auxiliary

August 24, 2008

SMITHSBURG - Carol Lynn of Hagerstown Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 694 Ladies Auxiliary was installed as the new Maryland State Madam President of the FOE Maryland State Auxiliary at the 2008 FOE 103rd State Aerie and 31st State Auxiliary Convention.

Lynn has been a member to the Ladies Auxiliary for 20 years and is serving as secretary.

The convention was June 19 to 22 in Gaithersburg, Md., at the FOE No. 3509, at which time Eagle members from across the state gathered to discuss key issues and elect new state officers.

As the new state president, Lynn will be responsible for conducting state meetings and workshops throughout her tenure and making visits to the nine other organizations in the state. Her year will also include promoting her charity of choice, Hospice of Washington County, Inc., in memory of her late friend, Elaine Dunn.

She chose the Dove as her symbol, the colors purple, teal and white, and the theme "Fly like a Dove, Sting like a Bee; Sign up a New Member for the FOE." to exemplify her charity.

Lynn dedicated her year to her husband Ray Lynn of 30 years.

Lynn, along with her husband, were the Hagerstown FOE 694 representatives to the 2008 FOE Grand International Convention in Louisville, Ky., on Aug. 10 to 14.

Superstar singer Billy Ray Cyrus kicked off the International Convention with a performance at the "Welcome to Louisville" show on Aug. 10. Cyrus is an Eagle member and a member of the Eagle Hall of Fame (he also recorded a public service announcement for the FOE).

The Fraternal Order of Eagles, an international non-profit organization, unites fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills, and by promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope.
