Brown enters Miss American Teen Pageant

Laura Brown, 19, daughter of William Brown and Tina Brown of Keedysville, has been selected to represent Maryland at the 2008 Miss American Teen Pageant. Laura will be attending the national pageant for her age group in Florida and Disney World during the Thanksgiving week. She will compete for the title of Miss American Teen and cash awards, prizes and scholarships.

Lohmans, Bakers visit Mediterranean

Roger and Shelva Lohman of Burnside Bridge Road in Sharpsburg, along with friends Leroy and Clara Mae Baker of Myersville, Md., cruised the Mediterranean Sea from July 18 to 31. The Lohmans and Bakers visited Dubroynie, Croatia, Argostieli and Santorine in Greece, Venice, Catania (Sicily), Naples, Civitavecchia and Rome in Italy and Barcelona, Spain.

Keedysville Ruritan to hold festival

The Keedysville Ruritan Club will hold its annual Festival in the Park Saturday.

The food stand will open at noon with hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, roast beef and country ham sandwiches, Maryland crab, chicken corn, ham and bean soups and barbecue chicken.


Children's games begin at 1 p.m.; an auction at 6 p.m.

The Rohrersville Band will play at 3 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.

Club members will be selling raffle tickets for the chance to win $200 or a Longaberger picnic basket and other prizes.

Keedysville resident Laura Brown (Miss Maryland Teen, 2008), who will be represent Maryland in the Miss American Teen Pageant, will be on hand.

Bingo, face painting and a Scout troop craft display will be available.

Gehr to check blood pressure at center
