Parenting class begins Sept. 2

The Washington County Diversion Program is offering a free six-week parenting class called "Becoming a Love and Logic Parent."

This free class is designed for parents of children ages 5 to 18. The program focuses on creating a stronger relationship between parents and teens. Issues covered include arguing, logical consequences and personal responsibility.

Classes meet from 6 to 8 p.m. New sessions start on Tuesday, Sept. 2, and Thursday, Sept. 11.

Parents should attend at least five of the six classes to get the full benefit of the program.

YMCA fall family fitness festival

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Chambersburg YMCA, 570 E. McKinley St., will hold its fall family fitness fest from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 6. The event is free for YMCA members, $5 for nonmembers and $10 per family. Minimum ages are required for some classes.

Etiquette school plans expo

Blossom School of Etiquette will present Girl Expo, a three-day event that covers issues impacting young girls, ages 6 to 17.

The expo will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12; 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13; and 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at Grand Venice Hotel, 431 Dual Highway, Hagerstown.

The cost is $20 for all three days; $15 for two days including Friday's opening ceremony and workshops on Saturday; or $15 for Saturday workshops and the Sunday closing ceremony. Registration is open through Friday, Aug. 29.
