Car show at Hagerstown airport to benefit aviation museum

The Wings and Wheels Car Show at Hagerstown Regional Airport will be Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The show will feature Hagerstown-built aircraft from the museum's growing collection, including the 1945 Fairchild C-82 Flying Boxcar and World War II PT-19 trainers.

The show will also feature muscle, import, exotic and antique cars and trucks. There will be a special appearance of the new 2008 Lamborghini. Auto racer Bud Faubel will be the event's guest of honor.

The event is free to the public with a $10 registration fee for competing cars. Trophies will be given out in several classes, and professional photographers will be available to have a photo of your car taken with one of the museum's vintage airplanes. Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 100 entries.

The event will be held at Hagerstown Aircraft Services at the the airport, along U.S. 11 behind Tony's Pizza signs will help direct people to the event. Food and homemade ice cream will be available, with sales benefiting both EAA Chapter 36 and the Hagerstown Aviation Museum.

The Hagerstown Aviation Museum celebrates and maintains the rich aviation history of Hagerstown and Washington County. The museum has the largest museum-owned collection of historical aircraft in Maryland, and also has an exhibit at the Discovery Station Museum in Downtown Hagerstown
