Maryland Renaissance Fair



opens this weekend in Crownsville, Md. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, and Sunday, Aug. 24. Festival is open weekends, and Labor Day, rain or shine, through Oct. 19. This weekend is children's weekend, so ages 11 and younger get in free; they can come dressed as princes and princesses. Call 800-296-7304 or go to www.rennfest.com. Entertainment and activities include live music, acrobatics on an aerial hoop and silk, comedy shows, pony rides, juggling school and ax-throwing game.

Corn maze season



is starting. A maze shaped like a tractor opens Friday at the Herbst Farm, 14230 Misty Meadow Road, Smithsburg. Their hours are 4 p.m. to dusk on Fridays, and 1 p.m. to dusk on Saturdays through Nov. 1.

Williamsport Days



features about 170 craft vendors, live music, a car show and much more. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at Byron Memorial Park. Classic car/cruise-in 1 p.m. Sunday on Salisbury Street downtown.
