Composting workshop planned in Waynesboro

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Renfrew Institute will offer a composting workshop and free backyard composting bins for Franklin County residents.

The workshop, which has a fee of $10, will be held on Thursday, Sept. 11, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Renfrew Museum and Park visitors center. Pre-registration is required for the workshop presented by George Hurd, who is a Franklin County Extension educator.

Registrants will be given one bin per household as long as supplies last, a news release stated.

The bins are being provided through a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the news release stated.

The workshop will encourage the recycling and reuse of yard trimmings, leaves, grass, kitchen scraps and other organic materials. Registration for the workshop, which has limited seating, must be made by Sept. 8 by calling 717-762-0373.
