Pooch Plunge to be held at city pool Sept. 3

August 21, 2008

The 5th annual Pooch Plunge at Potterfield Pool will be Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Claude M. Potterfield Pool, 730 Frederick St. in Hagerstown.

The event benefits the Humane Society of Washington County's Charlie's Fund.

Last year's Pooch Plunge drew more than 120 dogs and Paul Miller, executive director of the shelter, is hoping for an even larger turn out this year. "I think this is a wonderful way to bid farewell to summer by treating your dog to one last swim before the weather turns cold.

"We hope everyone will join us for the fun."

In addition to swimming and jumping into the pool together, the canine/human duos can participate in the following contests: best tail wagger, best singer, Best trick, best kisser and best dressed.

Contests begin at 7 p.m. and prizes will be awarded for first place winners.

Admission to the event for one dog plus one handler is $5. Additional individuals or pets will be $2 each.
