Sharpsburg residents charged after suspected marijuana found in home

Two Sharpsburg residents were charged with drug crimes Tuesday after the Washington County Narcotics Task force executed a warrant at their home and found two pounds of suspected marijuana, and nine suspected marijuana plants.

Officers found two gallon-size bags, each containing about one pound of marijuana, Sgt. Todd Kerns said in a news release. They also found an area of the home dedicated to growing marijuana plants, he said. The area included an artificial light, and nine plants were seized, Kerns said.

Charles Terrence Collins, 44, and Rhonda Lynn Banzhoff, both of 17212 Canal Road, were charged with manufacturing drugs, possession with the intent to distribute drugs, possession of drugs and other crimes.
